Confused...

I watched this Oprah's Show on this Christmas Day and saw what she and her network did for poor and sick children in South Africa. All the help seemed worthwhile and what she did actually made a difference. And I look at my own nation, Indonesia. We have so many problems here: poverty, community health problems, education, etc. But where to start and how? Because all I know every effort to help most of the times caused more problems: community conflict over who gets what, corruption by the authorities, etc. What is planned cannot be executed in the right way. I believe it is important for someone or some organization who managed to help these people successfully to share their stories on TV or mass media and encourage others to do the same! I mean, Oprah can touch a lot of hearts. Why can't we in Indonesia??
And I look at myself: I have a vision and I know what I will do if I have all the resources. The question is, what path should I take to get there? To plan the right career so I can make a difference... Now I'm a bit confused, the road seems blurry. Although the big picture is here in my head: to gain and to give back. I shall not forget.

Oh yeah.. Merry Christmas to y'all!

New advertising means

Creative and interesting....the uprising trend of blogging and creating public web page become a tool for marketing, viral marketing. Imagine, bloggers around the world can embed trailers (like I just did) and banners of the new Tim Burton's movie, for free (hell, yeah, it should be free), creating advertisements everywhere.. Smart! Not to mention extra publications from bloggers like me who voluntarily write about the movie in their blogs! Thehehehe......

Sweeney Todd: Newest Tim Burton's masterpiece

Happiness Therapy

I watched Oprah this morning and had a really good insight. Happiness cannot be pursued. Happiness lies inside ourself and our inner self radiates out projecting what we perceived as the exterior world. SO there is no such thing as pursuit of happiness. Especially, in my social circle I often hear people say that they are happy when they can achieve something and when they do achieve the goal they're aiming, they are still unhappy because then there are new things to achieve. Never satisfied. Even deeper, some people (according to Oprah's guest) are afraid to be happy because they fear that the happiness will not last and therefore they fear feeling down after they are being happy.
And it's just so true! I found that in this business world, there are lots of the so called self-improvement advice, about how to become the great business people, how to appear professional, that you should never show your depression and sadness and should always appear energetic, flawless, never do a mistake that will stain our record for the rest of our lives, etc. Gosh! How misleading these are...
The advice should start from ourselves. Because by being happy deep down, the happiness will radiates out and will make us glow, literally! However, I realize that this is not that easy, because we face other people that behave differently. And I think the key lies in respect to ourself and others, appreciation, and honesty. To know our full potential and believe in ourselves, never let other people force us to change. But in the same time, do the same to other people. Then just let things flow.... accept things that we cannot change and don't try to change things that we can never change. (sounds familiar? hmm..it sounds biblical)
