I watched Al Gore's AIT last Friday. In the movie, Al Gore explained global warming, its causes and effects. It is indeed a very inconvenient illustration of what humankind has done to nature and to its own future. The images shown are truly products of great photography, but more than that, they were strikingly graphic, strong in evidence. For me, this movie was highly emotional. Maybe it's because I came from biology background that made all the evidences make sense. Maybe I was just too sentimental. But the truth is, I cried. Certainly made myself looked silly in front of the whole class. But I guess it's human.
Anyway, the movie depicted a sad situation, where even the congress in a country like United States denied the fact that this world is facing the biggest threat ever. Global warming, the increase in worldwide temperature is in the process of causing direct disasters, like the melting of ice all over the world, increasing the sea level and drowning small islands and coastal areas. The indirect effects are here, too, like the increasing strength and intensity of tornados due to the high evaporation. Not to mention the extinction of species due to shift in season that cause food unavailability, the invasion of exotic species to fill empty niches, and widening roaming range of disease carriers. The impacts are clear!
I tried to check for resources in the internet regarding Gore's so-called-facts and so far I found no false information. Various research publicized in Nature and other scientific journals are the basis of his claims, so they are basically correct.
I am still figuring out how to be a part of the solution of Global Warming. Meanwhile, for you who haven't watched to movie, I think you should.

Psychocritiquers
So once I have fallen into the depth of psychological trap. Part of me tried to believe what people said about my personality and other part struggle to convince myself of my own beliefs. But then I found this article, which is quite interesting. Something I believe.
It's about "psychocritiquers", people who practice psychology without license, or simply people who thinks the know all about psychology and analyze other people personality. These people are very good at saying that you don't worth much. Drop a bomb of doubts and guilt upon yourself.
In reality, I think there are a lot of people out there who become "psychocritiquers" unconsciously. The outcome is not very good indeed.
These are the symptoms of "psychocritiquers":
1. They only know you for several minutes, but they start talking about some psychology thing they learned years ago
2. They see your behavior and generalize it into personality
3. They refuse to see the cause but continues to focus on the mistakes you've done
4. examples of their judgments are: you're too sensitive!! or you're too selfish and only think about yourself!!
5. they can even say it with the softest tone and try to outsmart you.
How to not become the victim?
1. always realize that everybody make mistakes
2. people have different personalities due to their different past and experiences
3. believe in the salad, not the soup (diversity rules!)
4. you alone are the final judge of who you are and what right stuff you character is made off
5. the only thing that everybody should change is their way of communication, not the character
6. never try to argue with them, you will only lose respect of yourself
7. not all casualties are your fault.
How to not become one of the "psychocritiquers"?
1. always remember that everybody is different
2. avoid judgments
3. mind your own business
4. try to appreciate people's intentions and reasons behind actions.
