Forgetful Citizens

Recently several incidents truly reminds me of how forgetful Indonesians are. In a fight for justice against the invasive busway project, the long and tiring process made the group forgot of the initial objective. And the people in the group become more tolerant, probably due to exhaustion, and they finally backed off.

The same with corruption, plagiarism, etc. Most people are too tired to talked about this plague and some people even let it happen under their nose because they think it's acceptable.

And I reflected on other moments where people are tolerant and permissive. These people said they become more happy that way, relieved from stress. And now they say they're just being flexible in order to broaden their network. And I am thinking, that our society become more and more permissive. And to avoid conflict, most people in my society prefer to be tolerant and therefore becoming permissive as well. People no longer hold on to ethics and integrity, because they said it will make them less flexible and make them difficult to make friends in today's world. Is it really what we want our society to be? Because we are too tired to fight?
